Bicycle Donations

What happens to my bicycle after it’s donated?

All donated bicycles support WOBC’s work in the community in the following ways:

  • Free Bicycle Programs
WOBC refurbishes donated bicycles and then redistributes them back to the community at no cost to schools, community organizations, and governmental agencies across the Chattanooga region. WOBC also distributes bicycles for children and youth at designated community events.

    Bicycle Education Program
WOBC’s Bicycle Education Program provides free bicycle safety education programming to thousands of children and youth across Southeast Tennessee each year. Donated bicycles are used for programming and supporting WOBC’s Earn-A-Bike youth bicycle education initiative.

  • Repair Parts
Occasionally, due to wear and tear, bikes are unable to be refurbished. Usable parts from these bikes are pulled and used for refurbishing and repairing other bikes.

    Recycle Art Program
One of WOBC’s endeavors to reduce waste is the Re-Cycle Program. This initiative seeks to turn unusable bicycle parts into pieces of artwork. Proceeds from artwork sales goes to support the work of WOBC.

    Recycling
Bicycles that are beyond repair are recycled. Proceeds from recycled bicycles goes to support the work of WOBC.

  • NNH Red Bank Thrift Store
A small selection of bicycles are available for purchase at Northside Neighborhood House’s Red Bank Thrift Store. Proceeds from bicycle sales goes to support the work of WOBC.
